MOGADISHU – Somalia’s federal government has appointed an eight-member committee to facilitate the formation of a regional administration for the SSC-Khatumo area, the Ministry of Interior announced in a decree issued Saturday.

The committee, named by Federal Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, will be chaired by Dr. Ahmednur Mohamed, with Abdinassir Haji Mohamed serving as deputy chair.

Other appointed members include Ahmed Shire Ahmed, Arafat Ali Mohamed, Ahmed Yusuf Mahmoud, Rufaci Mohamed Salad, Mahmoud Said Nur and Fadumo Abdi Ali.

According to the decree, the committee will provide technical advice and assist in the coordination between federal and local institutions, contribute to the design of administrative frameworks, and submit regular progress reports to the ministry.

The committee’s mandate will remain active until the completion of the SSC-Khatumo regional administration structure, the ministry said.

The move comes amid efforts by the federal government to support locally driven governance models and foster political stability through inclusive state-building and reconciliation.
