MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia has joined a chorus of condemnation over the bloody Wednesday Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza that killed 500 civilians, mostly children and women.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Somalia sends a heartfelt condolence to the victims’ families, adding “Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law,”.

“What Israel is doing in Gaza is considered a flagrant violation against international laws, rules, and human values,” said the Somali government.

More than 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told Anadolu.

The government said that there is a need for the Palestinian people to open safe roads and borders so that they can get humanitarian aid to the people trapped in the Gaza Strip.

Somalia has called for international intervention to stop the violence and massacre of Palestinians in Gaza.
