Raaga Ceelle, Somalia – The local clan militia known as Macawiisley carried out a targeted operation against an Al-Shabaab stronghold in the Moora Godan area, about five kilometres north of Raaga Ceelle village in the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation focused on a site used by the militant group to treat wounded fighters and coordinate attacks on local communities. According to military sources, the Macawiisley inflicted heavy losses on the militants, destroyed the hideout, and disrupted Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities in the area.
The Somali National Army provided crucial support to the Macawiisley fighters during the mission, contributing to the swift and effective execution of the attack.
In a statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Defence praised the bravery of the Macawiisley forces and lauded the local population for their ongoing commitment to defending the country.
“The Somali National Army and local community forces remain steadfast in their efforts to combat the Khawarij [Al-Shabaab], ensuring the security, peace, and safety of all citizens,” the ministry said.
The operation marks the latest in a series of coordinated efforts by Somali forces to weaken Al-Shabaab’s foothold in central and southern Somalia.
