Somalia parliament speaker visits Baidoa after Hudur visit

Baidoa, Somalia — Somalia’s Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, known as Sheikh Adan Madobe, arrived Saturday in Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State, leading a high-level federal delegation.

 

The speaker was welcomed at Shaati Gaduud Airport by the Acting President of South West State and Speaker of the Regional Assembly, Dr. Ali Said Fiqi, alongside cabinet members, lawmakers, traditional elders, and representatives of civil society.

Following the arrival, a joint press conference was held at the presidential compound in Baidoa. Dr. Fiqi officially welcomed Speaker Madobe and said the visit marks an important step toward strengthening ties between the federal and regional governments.

Madobe expressed his gratitude to the South West State authorities and the people of Baidoa for the warm reception. He said he plans to hold discussions with regional leaders, elders, and various segments of society during his stay.

The visit is expected to pave the way for deeper cooperation between Somalia’s federal government and South West State, with a focus on improving governance, enhancing security, and expanding public services.
