TANGIER, Morocco, November 30, 2025 – Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday emphasised the importance of cooperation and partnership among Global South nations during the closing session of the MEDays international forum in Morocco.
Speaking to leaders from across the region, Hamza said Somalia is “writing a new historical chapter,” regaining its global standing and demonstrating political and security stability.
He highlighted ongoing reforms and reconstruction, asserting that Somalia is ready to play a leading role in promoting regional and international stability.
“We have not come here seeking charity; we have come seeking cooperation, ready to contribute ideas and engage in dialogue as part of the solution,” the Prime Minister said.
Hamza also stressed that Africa can no longer be a mere observer of global affairs but must actively shape future policies.
The four-day MEDays forum concluded with Somalia playing a prominent role, forging a range of partnerships seen as beneficial to both the country’s short- and long-term interests.
