Somalia: President Hassan Sheikh Outlines Priorities in Address to Nation

Mogadishu, Somalia – In his Friday address to the nation, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia highlighted his administration’s key priorities, including the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab, economic growth, and democratic processes.

 

The President emphasized that eliminating Khawarij remains the government’s top priority. He expressed concern over the Al-Shabaab’s attempts to tarnish Mogadishu’s image and vowed to continue the fight until the entire country is liberated.

President Mohamud also stressed the importance of fair and transparent elections, stating that every Somali citizen should have the opportunity to vote. He firmly declared, “Somalia will not be ruled by someone who the people do not choose.”

Furthermore, the President highlighted impressive economic growth in the country, with the economy expanding by nearly 100%. He attributed this growth to ongoing projects across all regions of Somalia and expressed confidence in the nation’s financial structure.

He also welcomed international support for major development initiatives, expressing his belief in the country’s potential.
