Washington, D.C. — The Somali government delegation along with representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates convened in Washington, D.C., for the 7th round of the Somalia Quint meeting, held on October 4, 2024.
The discussions primarily revolved around bolstering Somalia’s security sector, aiming to empower the Somali government to take full control of its security apparatus and decisively combat the Al-Shabaab insurgency. Participants emphasized the importance of sustainable security solutions and the need for continued international support to ensure stability in the Horn of Africa.
The meeting underscored a commitment to enhancing the capacity of Somali security forces through training, equipment, and strategic support.
