MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia has rejected any proposals that would undermine the Palestinian people’s right to live peacefully on their ancestral land, its foreign minister said on Friday.
Ahmed Moalim Fiqi told Reuters that the Somali government would not accept any plan involving the use of its territory for the resettlement of other populations.
“We stand firmly against any plan that seeks to displace or resettle people on Somali soil,” Fiqi said, emphasizing Somalia’s commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.
Fiqi’s statement comes amid ongoing discussions about resettling populations from Gaza and other conflict zones, though Somalia has made it clear it will not be a part of such initiatives.
