JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – Somalia’s Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, on the sidelines of the 2nd Global Maritime Forum.
The two officials discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in maritime connectivity, logistics services, and regional trade development, according to the Somali state media.
The meeting underscored the importance of strategic partnership between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly in boosting economic integration in the Horn of Africa and the wider Red Sea region.
Minister Nur outlined Somalia’s ongoing infrastructure and port development projects, including plans for new economic zones and modernization of key transport corridors. He emphasized that these initiatives are vital for facilitating trade and stimulating economic growth.
Both sides agreed on the need for long-term collaboration to promote sustainable economic ties and enhance regional maritime networks.
