MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia issued on Friday a 33-point report on the current situation in the Horn of Africa country, including security and diplomacy.
1- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who opened the 7th Judicial Conference of the country said that the review and completion of Chapter 9 of the Constitution are the basis for finding a judicial system that is compatible with the needs of the community and the recovery of the country.
2- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud welcomed the cease-fire agreement in Gaza, praising the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to ensure this agreement.
3- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud participated in the African Agricultural Development Program (CAADP) Summit in Kampala, Uganda, where he delivered a speech and met with some of the leaders who attended the summit.
4- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a meeting with some Somali civil society organizations and listened to their views and suggestions regarding the country’s situation, especially the elections and the country’s security.
5- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has returned to the country after talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa.
6- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre held talks in Mogadishu with the Director General of the Development Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, while discussing the strengthening of cooperation between the two sides, especially in matters of investment and infrastructure development in Somalia.
7- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre had a meeting with the Special Representative of the African Union to Somalia Ambassador Mohamed El-amine Souef and they discussed issues related to the African Union Mission.
8- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has officially closed the 7th National Judicial Conference of the country.
9- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre said that the government will take strict measures against any official who tries to abuse or violate Somali women’s rights.
10- Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, has participated in a graduation ceremony at the University of Mogadishu, and emphasized that the FGS is planning to improve education in the country so that Somali children can get high-quality education.
11- The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, had a meeting with the Director General of the Development Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad.
12- The Second Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, chaired the first meeting of the Somalia Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) which consists of 18 members from ministries and other government agencies.
13- The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama visited the Ministry of Internal Security and Immigration Agency.
14- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, spoke on the phone with his counterpart in Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, discussing the strengthening of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries.
15- The Minister of Information Mr. Daud Aweis Jama said that the University of Mogadishu and the ministry will have extensive cooperation in the development of tourism, public awareness, media, and various services that the community needs.
16- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, met with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel Atty while discussing the development of stability in the region and the role of the Egyptian government in the operation of the African Union AUSSOM.
17- The Minister of Information Daud Aweis Jama held talks with the African Union Representative in Somalia and the Head of the USSOM Mission, Ambassador Souef Mohamed El-Amine.
18- The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ahmed Maallim Fiqi participated in the second meeting of the Trilateral Committee of Foreign Ministers of Somalia, Egypt, and Eritrea which took place in Cairo.
19- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Maallim Fiqi met with the Vice President of Kenya, Kithure Kindiki in Nairobi.
20- The Minister of Security, Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, who is on an official trip to Baghdad, visited the headquarters of the General Command of the Police Force and the Iraqi Border Force Command.
21- The representative of the African Union in Somalia and the head of AUSSOM mission, Ambassador Souf Mohamed El-Amine, welcomed the return of diplomatic relations between Somalia and Ethiopia.
22- Minister of Public Works Mr. Dr. Elmi Mohamud Nur attended the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Horn of Africa Economic Infrastructure Linking Project in Nairobi.
23- The Somali police have seized a vehicle filled with explosives intended to harm the Somali people living in the capital Mogadishu.
24- Government officials welcome at Mogadishu Aden Adde Airport Somali fishermen who were rescued from the shores of Seychelles.
25- Minister of Family and Human Rights Development Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, held an introductory and welcoming meeting with Somali women in Mogadishu.
26- The National Intelligence and Security Agency has announced a reward of 30.000 USD for information leading to the arrest of Kharijites Al Shabab suspect Yusuf Mohamed Hussein known as (Jeri Arab).
27- The Minister of Family and Development of Human Rights, Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, had a meeting with George Conway, the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for humanitarian affairs.
28- The Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation Mr. Ali Yusuf Ali-Hoosh had a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Somalia, Charles Mballa.
29- The government of Somalia has praised the Puntland State Army for destroying five ISIS terrorist groups in the Al-Miskaad mountains in the Bari region.
30- The National Academy of Science, Culture and Literature held a program in Mogadishu on the impact of social media on the culture and heritage of Somalia.
31- The Deputy Commander of the Land Forces of the Somali National Army, accompanied by officials from the European Union, attended the closing ceremony of a training session at General Dhegabadan School for members of the Somali Police.
32- About 11 Somali fishermen who have been missing for more than a month in the waters of the Indian Ocean have been found on the shores of Singapore, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
33- The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Amir, had a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Somalia Amb. Pier Mario Daccò Coppi.
