Mogadishu – Somalia has expressed strong support for France’s declared intention to recognise the State of Palestine, calling it a significant and timely move that aligns with international calls for a two-state solution.
The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement welcoming the announcement, framing it as a reaffirmation of Palestinian rights and a step toward long-term peace in the region.
“France’s position reflects a growing global shift in support of Palestinian statehood and offers renewed hope for a just and lasting resolution,” the ministry said.
Somalia, which has consistently advocated for an independent Palestinian state, said the move strengthens diplomatic momentum and highlights the urgency of addressing Palestinian aspirations under international law.
The statement comes as several nations reconsider their positions on Palestinian recognition amid renewed focus on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
France joins a number of countries that have moved toward formal recognition of Palestine, amid renewed international efforts to advance a two-state solution.
