Somalia’s Council of Ministers Urges Unity, Approves Tourism Deal with Kenya

MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia met today to address critical issues concerning national security and unity.

 

Chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, the meeting emphasized the importance of safeguarding Somalia’s independence and combating threats from the Al-Shabaab group.

Prime Minister Barre called upon the Somali populace to unite in defense of the nation’s sovereignty and to avoid any activities that might lead to social fragmentation.

The council stressed the need for political stability and a unified front against threats to national cohesion.

In a show of appreciation, the council thanked the armed forces and the citizens for their ongoing efforts in maintaining security and fighting against insurgent groups.

In other developments, the meeting concluded with the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with Kenya. This agreement is set to bolster tourism cooperation between the two East African nations, potentially enhancing economic ties and regional stability.

The council’s actions today reflect a dual focus on internal security and external relations, aiming to fortify Somalia’s position both within its borders and on the international stage.
