Somalia’s Finance Minister at Arab Finance Conference in Dubai: Calls for Fiscal Reforms

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates  — Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Biixi Imaan Cige, was present at the opening of the 9th Annual Conference of Arab Financial Institutions in Dubai, UAE, which centers on Economic Development.

 

The international conference coincides with the Annual Meeting of World Governments.

In his opening speech, Minister Biixi underscored Somalia’s initiatives for economic development, detailing the government’s key investment strategies.

He spoke about the commitment to fiscal reforms and the modernization of domestic revenue systems as crucial steps towards financial advancement.

Concurrent with these discussions, Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), addressed the gathering, encouraging Arab countries to enhance economic opportunities to bolster recovery from adversities.

She advocated for specific measures aimed at supporting emerging communities and boosting regional resilience.
