Somalia’s Finance Minister Attends 21st Horn of Africa Initiative Ministerial Meeting in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya – Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Igeh, recently participated in the 21st ministerial meeting of the Horn of Africa Initiative held in Nairobi.

 

The quarterly gathering aimed to review and evaluate the progress of ongoing projects funded by various donors since 2019, ensuring transparency in their implementation.

The meeting also included discussions on the border cooperation system, with a report presented by the assigned committee following its approval in 2023.

The forum welcomed new donors committed to supporting the development goals of East African countries, further strengthening the regional cooperation efforts.

In his speech, Minister Igeh emphasized the importance of regional integration for Somalia’s economy, highlighting its potential to boost domestic production and overall economic growth.

He stressed that the successful implementation of the Horn of Africa Cooperation Forum’s plans would bring significant economic benefits to Somalia.

The Horn of Africa Initiative, established in 2019, aims to promote economic integration and development in the region through various projects and initiatives.

The quarterly ministerial meetings serve as a platform for member countries to review progress, discuss challenges, and plan for future collaboration.
