Nairobi, Kenya, Oct 10, 2025 – Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mahmoud Adan Geseed, on Thursday participated in the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), representing President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The high-level summit, held in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, focused on strengthening regional economic cooperation, accelerating intra-regional free trade, and promoting digital innovation to achieve inclusive and sustainable development across member states.
COMESA, a 21-member regional bloc, seeks to foster economic integration and trade among countries in Eastern and Southern Africa.
Speaking at the summit, Minister Geseed highlighted Somalia’s efforts to deepen regional trade ties and benefit from the economic opportunities presented by its membership in COMESA. He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to regional cooperation and economic development.
