DJIBOUTI — Somalia’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali, met with Djibouti’s President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh during an official visit to Djibouti this week, officials said.
Robow, accompanied by his Djiboutian counterpart Moumin Hassan Barreh, conveyed Somalia’s appreciation for Djibouti’s continued support and solidarity.
He praised President Guelleh’s long-standing role in Somalia’s peace and state-building efforts, particularly his mediation of the 2000 Arta Peace Conference, which helped re-establish Somalia’s federal institutions after the 1991 civil war.
During the visit, the Somali delegation held talks with senior officials from Djibouti’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
Robow said Somalia would benefit from Djibouti’s experience in areas such as the development of endowments, zakat administration, and the establishment of an Institute for Mediation and Peace Promotion.
The minister expressed gratitude to President Guelleh and Minister Barreh for the warm and brotherly welcome extended to him and his delegation.
