Somalia’s new army chief takes charge of the SNA

MOGADISHU, Somalia [SMN] – The commander of the army Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin Addow took over today from Gen. Odawaa Yusuf Rage, who held the position since 2019.

 

The takeover the SNA command took place on Saturday morning in Mgadishu during an event attended by the Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nor.

After that, the new SNA boss was briefed on the operations against Al-Shabaab and the latest gains made by the armed forces in south and central regions with the help of locals.

On the other hand, the new infantry chief Gen. Ahmed Aden took over from Gen. Mohamed Tahliil Bihi, as well as the Minister of Defense of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama, were present at the event.

The two newly appointed top chief have promised to speed up the work ahead of AU military exit and strengthen the cooperation of other sectors of the Somali national army.
