Somalia’s Ports Minister Meets Turkish Counterpart to Boost Tech and Maritime Cooperation

Istanbul — Somalia’s Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, met with Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacir, in Istanbul to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in innovation, advanced technology development, and youth empowerment.

 

The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships between the two countries in key sectors, with an emphasis on promoting technological advancements and supporting Somali youth to benefit from emerging opportunities.

Minister Abdulkadir praised Turkey’s significant role in organizing TEKNOFEST 2025, the world’s largest aerospace, satellite, and technology festival.

“Turkey is a leading example of successful technological development. We are committed to leveraging this expertise to improve Somalia’s port infrastructure and maritime transport services,” Abdulkadir said.

The talks form part of Somalia’s broader strategy to modernize its ports and maritime transport through strategic international partnerships.
