MOGADISHU, Somalia — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, accompanied by a high-level delegation, has left for New York to participate in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The theme of this year’s assembly, “Leaving no one behind,” resonates with Barre’s agenda, which focuses on Africa’s integral role in global policy-making.

During his address, Prime Minister Barre is expected to underscore the importance of unity and diversity in fostering peace and sustainability.

His speech will advocate for an inclusive approach to international issues, highlighting how African perspectives are crucial for addressing global challenges effectively.

The UNGA provides a platform for world leaders to discuss pressing international matters, set the stage for future cooperation, and negotiate commitments to tackle issues like climate change, economic development, and peacekeeping.

Prime Minister Barre’s participation underscores Somalia’s commitment to these global dialogues, aiming to ensure that the voice of Africa, particularly from regions recovering from conflict and instability, is heard on the international stage.

This visit also marks a significant diplomatic engagement for Somalia, as it seeks to rebuild and stabilize its position within the international community, emphasizing economic recovery, security, and governance reforms.
