Hargeisa, Somalia – National certificate examinations for the 2024–2025 academic year officially began Saturday across Somaliland’s regions and districts, according to the Office of Examinations and Certification.
A total of 40,749 students — both boys and girls — are sitting the exams this year. The candidates are spread across three educational levels:
Secondary School (Form Four): 15,696 students
Intermediate School (Grade 8): 24,836 students
Technical and Vocational Education: 217 students
The exams are being conducted in 304 centers located throughout the regions and districts under Somaliland’s administration. Authorities said strict security and examination protocols have been put in place to ensure the process runs smoothly and fairly.
In a public statement, the Office of Examinations and Certification extended a message of encouragement to all participating students and expressed hopes for their success. The office also confirmed the deployment of monitoring teams to uphold the transparency and quality of the examinations.
Officials described the exams as a significant milestone in the region’s educational development, noting that the number of exam candidates continues to grow each year. Somaliland’s administration reiterated its commitment to further strengthening the education sector through sustained investment and reforms.
