BAIDOA, Somalia — The president of South WestState, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, visited units of the regional Darawiish forces as they prepare to strengthen security and safeguard governance in the region, officials said.
During the visit, Laftagareen met with troops on the ground and praised their readiness, urging them to remain steadfast in their mission to protect communities and uphold stability.
He reiterated that the regional administration is committed to supporting and improving the capacity of its forces to ensure they effectively carry out their national duties, including defending the country, maintaining governance, and combating armed groups.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the South West State government to bolster security, rebuild public institutions and ensure lasting peace across areas under its administration.
Officials said the trip also aimed to boost morale among soldiers and other security personnel, encouraging them to perform their responsibilities with professionalism and dedication.
South West State has in recent months intensified efforts to reinforce its security apparatus amid continued challenges posed by insurgent groups in parts of the region.
