MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Military Court today sat down to hear the terrorism-related cases against Al-Shabaab members for bombings in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
Yuqow Aliyow Haji who was accused of being in charge of Al-Shabaab’s Amniyat – group’s most feared intelligence wing, was operating in Mogadishu and the road leading to Afgoye.
Haji is said to be behind a mine explosion in Kahda district of the Banadir region, which killed at least 4 people including a mother and her two children as well as a Tuk-Tuk driver.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the Armed Forces Court, Major Ahmed Abdalla said that the man was working with Al-Shabaab and was in charge of the bombings, mainly the IED blasts.
Ruqiyo Jama Khayre also appeared in the court and was accused of storing weapons for Al-Shabaab which were seized from the areas of Elasha Biyaha, on the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The Chairman of the Military Court, Hassan Ali Noor (Shuute) said at the conclusion of today’s hearing that they will announce the ruling in the next session to be held soon.
