ELBUR, Somalia – The president of Galmudug state, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qorqor, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor, to areas in Galgaduud region where the country’s armed forces recently freed Al-Shabaab with the assistance of local troops.
The locations visited by President Qoor Qoor and the Minister of Defense are mostly those where troops have completed the first phase of the operation to liberate Galmudug state.
The battle intensifies as SNA on the verge to begin the second phase.
Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh last night that the government will continue until the end of the the Al-Shabaab presence in the country.
The war on Al-Shabaab is ongoing in the majority of the country’s, mainly the regions of Galgaduud, Hiran, and Middle Shabelle.
“We will not return until we win the final victory of the war,” said President Hassan Sheikh in his address to the nation.
Somalia has been at war with Al-Shabaab for 16 years and currently takes the offensive inside AlShabab heartland.
