MOGADISHU [SMN] – The MPs in the Somali parliament are voting for a new president in Mogadishu after a year of delay due to the political crisis.
The speaker of the house Sheikh Aden Madobe has announced the result of the voting with four candidates who garnered the most votes going to the second round of the ballot.
The top candidates
1 – Said Deni, Puntland president won 65 votes
2 – Farmajo, the current leader won 59 votes
3 – Hassan Sheikh, the former president won 52 votes
4 – Hassan Ali Khaire, the former PM won 47 votes
The election will go on until a new winner is announced later tonight.
