ISTANBUL, Turkey – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, spoke about the Somali situation during Istanbul talks.

They have underlined that there is a need to deal with the current issues together and to find lasting stability in the whole country.

This reflects the extensive efforts of the two countries to cooperate in the security and stability of the Horn of Africa region, which is suffering from various problems, such as droughts, wars, and political instability.

Shoukry made this statement when he held a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.

Turkey and Egypt are among the countries that have good relations with Somalia, and they provide financial and military support to the federal government.

In addition, both countries said they will continue to collaborate on regional security and stability, as well as their support for the federal government of Somalia.

Somalia and Turkey signed a ten-year maritime defense deal that has great significance for the country and the region’s security.

The agreement, which covers both land and sea, aims to enhance defense cooperation between Turkey and Somalia. It includes the possibility of Turkey providing both training and equipment for a Somali navy.
