GAROWE, Somalia — United Nations Special Envoy for Somalia, James Swan, met with Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni in Garowe on Sunday to discuss a range of critical issues affecting the region and the broader Somali state-building process.
During the meeting at the Puntland State House, discussions centered on Somalia’s overall political and security landscape, with a particular focus on Puntland’s role in national reconciliation and development. President Deni and Envoy Swan delved into the ongoing efforts to enhance security, promote peace, and advance democratic processes within Puntland.
The dialogue also covered development projects aimed at bolstering the region’s infrastructure and economy, aligning with both national and international development goals. The UN envoy’s visit underscores the international community’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s path towards stability and self-governance.
Swan’s engagement in Garowe is part of a broader initiative to foster cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and its federal member states, addressing key challenges through dialogue and collaborative action.
