MOGADISHU, Somalia – Hashi Garad Ali Aalin (Yahye), who was found guilty of overseeing Al-Shabaab’s money laundering, was given a ten-year military prison sentence by the Court of the Armed Forces of Somalia.
The prosecution of the court said that he joined al-Shabaab in 2013, he was in charge of Mudug and Galgaduud finances and was in charge of Harardhere, Jowle, Aad and Badaweyn districts.
They were arrested in the area of Barak Isse in Mudug region, on the seventh of July this year, and a man named Hashi died in the operation, after he and the governor fought with the forces that captured them.
The government of Somalia has arrested many individuals who were involved with al-Shabaab, during the first phase of the operation to liberate many areas of Galmudug and Hirshabeelle.
