KAMPALA, Uganda — The Somali Ambassador to Uganda, Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare, met with Vincent Bagira, the Permanent Secretary of Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss enhancing relations between Somalia and Uganda.
During the meeting, Ambassador Qanyare expressed gratitude for Uganda’s ongoing support in peace and government building efforts in Somalia. She committed to working diligently to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
The discussions also covered the scheduling and preparation for the next session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), with an agreement to hold the meeting in Mogadishu.
Ambassador Qanyare raised several concerns regarding the Somali community in Uganda, seeking solutions for issues affecting them.
In response, Bagira assured that Somali students would receive treatment akin to students from other East African Community (EAC) countries. He mentioned that these matters would be taken up with the Ministry of Education and subsequently communicated to all educational institutions in Uganda.
