BOSASO, Somalia – Reports from Puntland indicate that 80 foreign ISIS members have been sighted in rural areas near Ufayn in the Bari region, according to local sources.

Intelligence confirms these fighters escaped from the military operations near Togga Jeceel in the same region, where they are allegedly being led by six Somali guides familiar with the local terrain.

The regional forces of Puntland have seen intense clashes recently, especially in the Calmiskaas mountains, where Daesh was expelled from multiple strongholds.

Puntland authorities have launched a comprehensive operation to dismantle Daesh control, with significant military actions over the past weeks leading to the recapture of several areas.

Efforts to thwart further Daesh activities are being ramped up, as the Puntland government pledges to eliminate the militant threat and safeguard the region’s inhabitants.
