JALALAQSI, Somalia – The head of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA), Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, and his delegation, including the Director of the Health Department, Dr. Abdullahi Muuse Ahmed, along with doctors from SoDMA and Medina Hospital, arrived in the town of Jalalaqsi in the Hiiraan region on Thursday.
The visit focuses on strengthening humanitarian efforts across the country, with particular attention to the living conditions in Jalalaqsi and its surrounding areas. The aim of the mission is to assess the critical needs of the population, and to deliver essential aid, including medicine and food, to vulnerable communities.
The aid was handed over to local officials, including the Ministry of Disaster Management and the regional administration of Hirshabelle.
The delegation was warmly welcomed at Jalalaqsi’s airport by local leaders, including Member of Parliament Maalik Cabdalla, the Director General of the Ministry of Disaster Management of Hirshabelle, Abdifitah Mohamed Yusuf, and Jalalaqsi’s district mayor, Nur Mohamed Absuge (Nuur Dheere), among other officials.
During the visit, the SoDMA Chief and his team held private meetings with district authorities to assess the current situation and the urgent need for aid. Plans were discussed to further enhance support for the people affected by ongoing challenges and disasters in the region.
