Baghdad, Iraq – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Baghdad on Thursday to attend the 34th session of the Arab League Summit, where leaders from across the Arab world are gathering to address pressing regional challenges.
The summit will focus on finding sustainable solutions to ongoing political and security crises affecting several parts of the Arab region. Key agenda items include humanitarian issues, strengthening inter-Arab cooperation, and promoting unity among member states.
During the summit, President Mohamud is expected to highlight Somalia’s ongoing efforts in the fight against the Al-Shabaab militant group.
He will emphasize his government’s determination, alongside the Somali people, to eliminate terrorist threats and restore stability across the country.
The president’s visit comes at a critical time for Somalia, as the nation continues its push to rebuild state institutions, improve internal security, and deepen its diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners.
