MOGADISHU, June 24, 2025 — The Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned Iran’s recent missile attack on Qatar, describing the act as a clear violation of international law and a serious threat to peace and stability in the Gulf region.

In a statement released by Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government expressed full solidarity with Qatar’s leadership and people, reaffirming its unwavering support for the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

“Somalia stands firmly with our brotherly government and people of Qatar, and we emphasize our commitment to an international order based on respect for national sovereignty, non-aggression, and peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding,” the statement read.

Somalia also urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions.

“We call on the international community to unite in safeguarding peace and respecting the sovereignty of independent nations,” it added.

The missile attack by Iran on Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base—home to the largest US military installation in the Middle East—has heightened regional tensions amid ongoing US-Iran confrontations over Tehran’s nuclear program.

The Somali government’s condemnation underscores its commitment to regional stability and support for peaceful solutions to conflicts.
