LAS’ANOD, Somalia, July 13, 2025 – A landmark conference aimed at finalizing the formation of the SSC-Khaatumo Federal Member State officially opened Today in Las’anod, the administrative capital of the Sool region.
The opening session was attended by prominent national and regional figures, including Senator Abdullahi Timacadde, Second Deputy Speaker of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament; Federal Minister of Interior Ali Yusuf Ali (Xoosh); SSC-Khaatumo leader Abdikhadir Firdhiye; along with several federal ministers and members of parliament.
Traditional elders from SSC-Khaatumo, official delegates, and representatives from various social sectors also participated, marking a key step toward institutionalizing governance and federal representation for the region.
The conference is expected to define critical political and administrative frameworks for the emerging Federal Member State, strengthen local governance, and enhance cooperation with Somalia’s Federal Government.
