Mogadishu – A prominent Somali presidential hopeful, Sultan Abdi Qorane, on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the country’s top federal leadership, accusing them of failing to steer the nation through its ongoing political and security crises.
In a strongly worded statement, Qorane alleged that the current leadership has “completely failed” in governing and uniting the country, warning that their shortcomings have deepened national divisions and weakened public trust.
“The failure of the federal government has reached a point where Al-Shabaab is exploiting the situation,” Qorane said, citing the recent wave of internal displacement in Mogadishu and other areas. He described the mass displacement of civilians as a “serious new threat” to national security and stability.
His remarks come amid growing political tensions and increasing public criticism of Villa Somalia’s handling of key national issues, including security, governance, and reconciliation.
With national elections expected in the coming months, Qorane’s comments are likely to intensify the political debate and further challenge the incumbent administration.
