SoDMA, Regional Relief Ministers Agree to Hold Next Somalia Humanitarian Forum in Jowhar

Mogadishu — The commissioner of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, met with relief ministers from the country’s federal member states to discuss preparations for the upcoming Somalia Humanitarian Forum.

The quarterly forum, which focuses on addressing key humanitarian issues such as drought, conflict, and climate change, is scheduled to take place on November 10, 2025, in Jowhar, the capital of the Hirshabelle regional state.

During the meeting, officials emphasized the importance of coordinated disaster response and humanitarian aid efforts, aiming to strengthen collaboration between government agencies and international partners to mitigate the impact of crises affecting Somali communities.

Mr. Abdulle described the meeting as vital to improving the management of humanitarian challenges and called for joint efforts to enhance cooperation across all relevant sectors.

The parties agreed to work collectively to ensure effective humanitarian assistance and to address the growing risks posed by natural disasters and climate change.
