Somali Police Arrest Woman Suspected of Killing Husband in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Police in Banadir region have arrested a woman suspected of killing her husband in Mogadishu’s Deyniile district, authorities said on Friday.

 

According to a statement from the Banadir regional police command, officers conducting an operation in neighbourhoods of Deyniile apprehended Fadumo Mohamed Osman, who is accused of fatally stabbing her husband.

The victim, identified as Hassan Mohamed Nur, died from severe injuries inflicted with a knife allegedly wielded by his wife, the police statement said.

Security officials said investigations are under way to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the killing.

Police added that the suspect will be brought before a court once preliminary inquiries are complete.

The incident comes amid a rise in domestic homicide cases reported in parts of Somalia in recent months, with several suspects still in custody in connection with killings involving spouses.
