Doha, Qatar — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha to discuss the long-standing ties between the two nations and ongoing regional developments.
During the meeting, the leaders reviewed existing agreements covering infrastructure investment, security cooperation, and diplomatic collaboration.
President Hassan Sheikh briefed the Emir on Somalia’s overall situation, including recent governance reforms, counter-terrorism efforts, and the country’s move toward direct elections.
Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for Somalia and its people, emphasizing Doha’s active role in promoting peace, stability, and development in the Horn of Africa nation.
The meeting underscores the commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral relations and advance cooperation on political, economic, and security matters.
