ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Somalia’s interior minister Ali Yusuf Ali “Hoosh” arrived in Pakistan on a working visit on Tuesday at the head of a high-level delegation, officials said.

During the visit, the Somali delegation is expected to hold talks with Pakistani authorities on strengthening bilateral cooperation in national identification and civil registration systems, electoral processes and democratic governance, as well as humanitarian assistance.

The delegation was received in Islamabad by Pakistani government officials alongside Somalia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Sheikhnuur Mohamed Hassan.

Those accompanying the minister include the chairman of Somalia’s National Independent Electoral Commission, Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan; the director general of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Abdiwali Timacadde; the head of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Moallim; and the deputy commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Osman Abdullahi Kaniif.

Somalia has been seeking international partnerships to modernise its civil registry, improve electoral administration and strengthen institutional capacity as part of broader state-building efforts.
