MUSCAT — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held official talks on Saturday with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi during an official visit to the Gulf sultanate, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The meeting took place at the Omani foreign ministry headquarters in Muscat, where the two ministers discussed ways to deepen longstanding ties and expand cooperation in areas of shared interest between the two countries.
According to Somali officials, the talks centered on reinforcing diplomatic relations and advancing strategic cooperation to support mutual interests and stronger partnership between the two “brotherly nations.”
The ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa, stressing the importance of both regional and international cooperation in promoting security, stability and sustainable development.
Oman’s foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s firm support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and reiterated Muscat’s position that it would not recognise any entity outside Somalia’s federal state system.
For his part, Abdisalam thanked Oman for its constructive diplomatic role and its efforts to promote dialogue, reconciliation and regional stability.
The visit comes as Somalia continues to strengthen diplomatic engagement with Gulf countries amid growing regional security and political challenges.
