Beled-Hawo, Somalia — Jubaland has staged a large military parade on the outskirts of Beled-Hawo in the Gedo region, showcasing thousands of heavily armed troops following the completion of recent training, officials said.
The display comes amid heightened security and political tensions in the region, particularly in Beled-Hawo, a strategic town that was previously taken over by forces aligned with the Federal Government of Somalia.
The troops presented during the exercise were equipped with military vehicles and a range of weaponry, underscoring what Jubbaland authorities described as their operational readiness.
Officials said the forces are being prepared for a “special operation” aimed at retaking control of Beled-Hawo.
Jubaland has accused the federal government of “invading” the Gedo region and vowed to regain territories it claims to have lost in recent developments.
There has been no immediate response from the federal government regarding the accusations.
The situation in Gedo remains tense and widely discussed, with concerns mounting that renewed fighting could erupt between the two sides.
