Somalia envoy joins Africa Day celebrations in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Somalia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Sheikh Noor Mohamed Hassan, and diplomats from the Somali embassy took part in celebrations marking Africa Day 2026, organized by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (ISSI) through its Centre for Africa, Middle East and Afghanistan (CAMEA).

 

The event was attended by former Pakistani foreign minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and featured remarks by Pakistan’s Additional Secretary for Africa at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, alongside envoys and representatives from African countries and Pakistan.

Participants, including ISSI officials, African ambassadors accredited to Pakistan and Pakistani ambassadors serving in African nations, discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation and expanding ties between Africa and Pakistan.

In his address, Ambassador Sheikh Noor Mohamed Hassan praised the organizers and underscored the importance of enhancing relations between Somalia and Pakistan, particularly in the fields of trade, education, culture and security.

The event concluded with the Somali embassy showcasing Somali cultural heritage, introducing attendees to aspects of the country’s history, traditions and the richness of its culture, according to a statement.
