MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar (Ali Balcad), has presented a lecture outlining the country’s diplomatic situation and the ministry’s achievements over the past four years.
The lecture, organised by the Ministry’s Institute of Diplomatic Studies, was part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic knowledge, improve the skills of foreign service officials and raise public awareness about Somalia’s foreign policy priorities.
The event was attended by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, department directors, staff members, federal government officials, and students from the Somali National University and Mogadishu University.
During the presentation, Ali Balcad highlighted progress made in strengthening Somalia’s bilateral and multilateral relations, advancing economic diplomacy, protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and increasing Somalia’s role in regional and international forums.
He said the Foreign Affairs Ministry had prioritised expanding international cooperation, attracting investment, developing strategic partnerships and defending national interests, with diplomacy playing a role in supporting Somalia’s economic development, security and stability.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to implementing Somalia’s foreign policy priorities, strengthening global partnerships and building an active diplomatic approach aimed at promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.
