KISMAYO, Somalia – A court in Kismayo today sentenced Hassan Abdullahi Abdi, 37 years old, to death for beheading his 61-year-old mother, Halimo Mohamed Omar.
The man, who was initially suspected of having a mental illness that caused him to kill his mother with a knife, said that a medical examination confirmed that his health was unfit.
The court said that he committed the murder deliberately, and said that he tried to escape after the act, but the security forces caught him. Abdi is from the diaspora.
The criminal, Hassan Abdullahi Abdi, committed this shocking murder act in June this year, days after his mother returned him to the country, to be rehabilitated.
