MOGADISHU [SMN] – Al-Shabab says it carried out an attack on an African Union key military base in southern Somalia as the militant group faces a major offensive by SNA.
The al-Qaeda affiliate says it overrun the base and killed dozens of Ugandan soldiers and wounded several others. It has not been possible to independently verify these claims.
The pre-dawn assault in Bula-Marer town, Lower Shabelle region saw heavily armed Al-Shabab fighters storm the ATMIS base, about 120km south of the capital, Mogadishu.
