Al-Shabaab commander surrenders in Southwest State

BAIDOA (SMN) – The Somali intelligence agents in the southwestern state of Somalia have paraded a senior Al-Shabaab official named Isse Omar Derow Isak.

The defector has been a member of al-Shabaab for eight years and was the commander of about 400 militants in charge of the attacks.

Isak said he was involved in several battles in the Juba and Bay regions during his time with Al-Shabaab.

NISA also displayed weapons confiscated from his group, including two AK47 rifles and one PKM, a machine gun.
