MOGADISHU, Somalia – In a significant development today, the Court of Appeal of the Banadir Regional Administration opened the hearing of the case against Sayid Ali Moalim Daud.
Sayid Ali was previously sentenced to death by firing squad by the Banadir Regional Court after being found guilty of burning his wife, Luul Abdiaziz, who later died of the burns.
The tragic incident occurred in Dharkenley district, where Sayid Ali set his wife on fire in their home while she was pregnant with his child.
After the heinous act, he left her in the house, and it was the neighbors who found Luul and took her to the hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
The Court of Appeal has taken a keen interest in this case, and a letter was sent to the Commander of Hamar-Weyne district police to ensure Sayid Ali’s presence at the hearing.
