MOGADISHU, Somalia – In a tragic turn of events, at least six people lost their lives in fierce inter-clan fighting that occurred along the border between the Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions of Somalia.
The clashes, which have sparked concern among residents, took place in areas between the Moqokori and Aden Yabal districts.
Residents reported that the conflict erupted between militia from the Hawadle and Abgal clans, two groups that have been living in the area. The sudden outbreak of violence has raised alarm among the local population, as the two communities have previously coexisted peacefully.
The Hirshabeelle State administration has pointed the finger at the al-Shabab group, accusing the terrorist organization of instigating the clashes in an attempt to create chaos among the clans.
This region has been a hotspot for recent clan clashes, with the most concentrated areas being Jalalaqsi, Moqokori, Mahaday, and Aden Yabal districts in the Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
The tragic loss of life underscores the urgent need for a resolution to the ongoing conflicts in the region.
As Somalia grapples with security challenges, the international community is watching closely to see how the government and local authorities will address the situation and work towards restoring peace and stability in the affected areas.
