Brussels – Charles MICHEL, President of the European Council, met with Hassan Sheikh MOHAMUD, President of Somalia, on 25 October 2023 in Brussels.
Michel praised Mohamud’s efforts in the fight against terrorism which he said are key to security and stability in Somalia after three decades of conflict that uprooted millions.
The two presidents discussed in their meeting the fight against the elimination of Al-Shabaab, the cooperation between the European Union and Somalia in the field of security, the process of building a government, and the development of social economic infrastructure, according to a brief statement from the Somali presidency.
The meeting held by President Hassan Sheikh with the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel is part of the meetings of the President, where he will spend the next few hours with some of the leaders participating in a meeting in Brussels between the European Union and the countries of the developing countries.
The president of Somalia is also scheduled to deliver a speech on many aspects at the forum which will run between 25-26 October 2023 according to a news release from the Somali presidency.
