MOGADISHU [SMN] – The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo received his certificate of candidacy for the presidency on Monday.
Farmajo went to the Upper House headquarters, where members of the Joint Presidential Election Commission were issuing the candidatures certificates to the candidates.
“I have officially received the certificate of candidacy of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia from the Joint Presidential Election Commission, and we have submitted our political platform for the continuation of the country’s transformation and fruitful development plans,” he said.
Farmajo said he is confident that the Somali legislators will elect a credible leadership, which is committed to safeguarding the nation and its sovereignty and reflecting the will of the Somali people.
The president of Somalia last night officially announced his candidacy and asked the members of both houses of parliament to give him their votes in May 15 election.
