KISMAYO, Somalia – Jubbaland state security forces carried out planned operations last night in one of the neighborhoods of Kismayo, the capital of the Lower Jubba region.
The command of the Jubbaland’s spy agency has revealed that during the operation, the troops foiled a landmine planted in one of the important roads in Kismayo city.
“Jubbaland Intelligence and Security Agency (JISA) unearthed a landmine that Al-Shabaab wanted to harm the people in peace,” said the Intelligence Agency in a statement.
The command of the Jubbaland security agency also thanked the people in Kismayo and said they worked with them to prevent attacks and explosions by the Al-Shabaab group.
In the city of Kismayo and its surroundings, there have been attacks including explosions and direct attacks by Al-Shabaab on the regional forces and the SNA military bases.
In March this year, Al-Shabaab militants raided the military Jana Cabdalle in Jubbaland, in an attack that came several weeks after the local forces conquered villages near Kismayo.
Meanwhile, the Jubaland regional intelligence agency said that security forces conducted an operation in the vicinity of Welmarow village, killing 17 al-Shabab militants.
